Set Up Shipping Methods in QuickBooks

Why you would set up shipping methods in QuickBooks
You are likely already keeping track of shipping methods in QuickBooks.  Each QuickBooks transaction has a shipping method associated with it.  OzLINK uses this shipping info to choose the correct shipping method in the carrier.  OzLINK gathers some special service information from the shipping method, including:

  • Saturday Delivery
  • C.O.D.
  • Residential

For example, you could set up two shipping methods in QuickBooks named "Ground" and "Ground C.O.D."  In OzLINK, you could then translate those names to mean "UPS Ground" and "UPS Ground with the C.O.D. special service" respectively.  For more about shipping methods, see: Shipping Methods.

NOTE:  C.O.D. can also be set through the QuickBooks Terms for the transaction, in which case it isn't necessary to include it in the shipping method.  For more details, see: C.O.D. Settings

How to set up shipping methods in QuickBooks
Shipping methods in QuickBooks are stored in a list called the "Ship Via List."  You can access this list through the "Lists" menu in QuickBooks.  From the dialog window you can add or edit shipping methods.  For a more detailed explanation of this process, please see the QuickBooks help.
