Negotiated Rates

Overview

Some UPS customers are able to negotiate lower UPS rates depending on volume and other factors.  OzLINK for UPS can display these negotiated rates instead of (or in addition to) the normal list rates so you know how much you're really spending and saving.  You must have negotiated rates enabled on your UPS account before you can use them in OzLINK - speak with your UPS Representative for more information.

Troubleshooting

If you have enabled your negotiated rates but your rates are not what you expected, see: What If My Rates Are Not What I Expected?

Enabling Negotiated Rates in OzLINK

You will need a UPS invoice issued within the last 30 days to enable your negotiated rates.  You must complete the steps below on each workstation.

  1. Click the Setup menu on the upper left.
  2. Select Accounts from the dropdown menu.
  3. Click the Edit button.
  4. Select the Enable Negotiated Rates checkbox. The authentication fields at the bottom will become illuminated.
  5. Fill in the authentication fields using information from a UPS invoice that is no more than three weeks old. Be sure to include any leading zeros listed in the invoice number.
  6. Click OK. If the information was entered correctly you should receive a message saying that your account has been authenticated. Although the message indicates that the negotiated rates will be available in 24 hours, we typically see the negotiated rates in about 30 minutes.
  7. This authentication process would need to be performed for each UPS account that you have registered in OzLINK.

Note the following while filling in your information:
a) The Shipper Number was entered during your initial registration and cannot be changed.
b) Include any leading zeroes from your invoice number
c) Be sure to use the invoice date, not the current date
d) Do not use a dollar sign or commas in the invoice amount.  Example:  1095.23
e) The control ID is case sensitive - make sure your capitalization matches
f) NOTE: UPS will lock you out of their authentication service after 3 unsuccessful attempts.  The shipper number will be locked out for 24 hours.  This unsuccessful attempt limit applies to the entire UPS account, so if another person at the company attempts to authenticate for a completely different reason then your account will still be locked.

You can choose to display the published rate, negotiated rate, or both.  To change the display see:  Displaying Rates

Negotiated Rates Troubleshooting

Note that you may need to wait up to 48 hours after activating negotiated rates before they will appear in OzLINK.  If your negotiated rates seem incorrect, try entering the exact same shipment information on UPS.com to compare the rate in OzLINK to the rate provided directly by UPS.  If the rates match but seem incorrect, please contact UPS.

If your rates are still not displaying correctly, please see: Negotiated Rates Troubleshooting.
